Canada introduced the Express Entry system to process the applications of foreign workers and individuals planning to obtain a Canadian Permanent Residence. The merit-based system uses the Comprehensive Ranking System to assess the profile of the candidates based on certain factors. Being a highly competitive system, candidates are assigned scores that rank them for sending ITA for Canadian PR.

The selection process starts by creating a strong Express Entry Profile. It is imperative to represent the profile with the maximum accuracy possible to earn a good score. Additionally, it saves from heavy penalties on providing misinformation. To increase Your Express Entry Points, candidates can work on the following important factors to obtain the maximum score.
1. Language Proficiency
Retaking the language proficiency test is considered as one of the most effective methods in boosting the CRS Score. To enter the Express Entry pool through the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the candidates need to score at least CLB 7 in the primary language proficiency i.e. English or French. This is one area that candidates can improve by preparing well for the language and retaking the test. It is one of the most valuable factors as it is counted for the below important sections:
2. Education
Education is one such factor that contributes to up to 230 CRS points. Any candidate obtaining lesser points in this section can improve their CRS score by attaining additional credentials. The best method to get through this is completing another degree or obtaining additional Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for the existing degree.
The Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is required to enter into the Express Entry pool as it verifies that the foreign degree, diploma, certificate, or any proof of education provided by the candidate is equivalent to Canadian standards of education. Candidates applying under the Federal Skilled Worker Program and are educated outside of Canada require one ECA. However, the candidate applying under Federal Skilled Trades Class or Canadian Experience Class requires no ECA.
3. Work Experience
Work Experience is a crucial factor that impacts the CRS score. To improve your CRS Score, obtaining additional or quality work experience may help in increasing your Express Entry Points. It is important to note that candidates possessing the type of work experience in or outside Canada can gain different levels of CRS points.
Additionally, it is common for candidates to experience that their job title may fall under the unskilled category. However, they have performed duties at work that may be considered skilled under the National Occupation Classification of Canada or NOC. Thus, it is necessary to go beyond the job title and present a quality work experience to claim additional Express Entry points.
Moreover, having a job offer significantly improves your CRS score. The candidates with an official job offer may obtain additional points depending upon the position for which they are employed. If you want to improve your CRS score, you can present an official and valid job offer to IRCC in writing with detailed job responsibilities, pay/ deductions, and conditions of employment.
4. Spousal Factors
Spouse or common-law partner accompanying the candidate affects the CRS score. Sometimes, the score of the principal applicant may be lower than their partner. In that case, the spouse or common-law partner can be the principal applicant to improve your CRS score. Additionally, applying as a single candidate and not including the spouse or common-law partner in the profile results in obtaining more points.
Each province of Canada operates its immigration program, also known as the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP). The majority of PNPs are aligned with the Express Entry System of Canada that may affect the CRS score. Candidates who receive the nomination from the province in which they want to migrate can result in obtaining 600 Express Entry points. The provincial nomination is an effective way to improve your CRS score.
