Launched in 2017, the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program is an initiative to uplift the economy of Canada’s four Atlantic provinces - Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island. It allows the employers of these provinces to hire foreign nationals to meet the local market and community needs. The three-year pilot program helps the employers in welcoming newcomers to Atlantic region by identifying, recruiting and retaining the talent. It develops the skilled workforce in the Atlantic provinces and increases employment rate in the region.
Under the pilot program, the applicants are required to have a job offer from an eligible employer and a settlement plan for themselves and their family.
The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program is an employer driven program that facilitates the employers to find workforce for their business. They identify the foreign workers who can fulfil their employment needs and employment criteria.
The employers, as per the program, are quickly required to have an access to a temporary work permit so that the employee and their family can come to Canada. The eligibility to obtain a work permit is stated below:
